The Future Freaks me out
You like them. You think they have a great personality. They're cute. You are all caught up in the "new" thing. Then, you find out they like you. Hip Hip Hurray, Right?
Not for me. Something that I have never been able to understand about myself is this concept. I have had a few 'boyfriends' here and there, but nothing serious enough to even really consider real or count it as a relationship at all. Does anybody else go through this? It's like I only like the chase, and then when I have the person, I decide that I am not as interested as I was to begin with. Maybe I'm just scared to be hurt, or maybe commitment freaks me out a bit. Maybe it's immaturity. But I really want to get past that.

Not Meant to Be
She looked out of his dorm window and saw all of the girls in their bathing suits. They had perfect bodies, was this a prerequisite of going to Radford? She was glad that the weather happened to be nice on this February weekend, but why were the girls tanning? It couldn't have been more than sixty degrees. She sighed because she knew she would be doing the same thing back at JMU. She never had doubts about their relationship before, but the distance was getting stressful. Her best friend's disapproval didn't help, and the new friends she made at school always egged her on to hook-up with the good-looking guys at parties. The good looking guys at parties never seemed happy that she had a boyfriend, either. Her thoughts pursued until suddenly the door opened, he came back from taking a shower. She looked at him, but she did not see the same boy that she had dated her whole senior year of high school anymore. She saw a taller, more mature person. He looked at her and asked her what was wrong, she realized she had tears in her eyes. She didn't know what to do. This was the beginning of her doubt. Maybe they weren't 'meant to be.'

An Inspiring Speech
There are plenty of amazing speeches out there given by politicians or civil rights leaders, but the ones that have always tended to "melt my heart" are acceptance speeches by actors and actresses at the Academy Awards! Yeah, it's cheesy because the Oscars just passed and all, but an inspiring speech at the Oscars to me is something that remains prominent when ever asked about speeches.
What are the means of a "Great speech?" A Great speech, in my opinion, is one that is well spoken grammatically, clearly portrays the emotion and passion behind the purpose of the speech, and that can touch the listeners. The speech is unique, memorable and used as an allusion. Oscar speeches are a representation of how following your dreams and stamina through hard work can pay off.
Tom Hanks
Cuba Gooding Jr.
Russell Crow
Denzel Washington
Sandra Bullock

The Oscars
I loved the Oscars and thought that everything that deserved recognition received plenty of it. Everyone is saying that Hathaway and Franco were boring or just not suitable but based on their inexperience I personally think they did a really good job!
I am especially ecstatic about Colin Firth's win

Grandad's Annual Beach Trip Speech
Grandad: "Babe, another Corona, will you babe?"
Barbara: "Okay hun."
Daniel: "Hasn't he had like four beers?"
Aunt Linda: "He isn't supposed to be drinking with his new medication..."
Aunt Mimi: "Why is Barbara giving him another?"
Ben: "Well obviously she wants him to kick the bucket, Aunt Mimi. Barbara's like, what, 40? And aren't we celebrating his 78th birthday this week? What is this; Hugh Heffner?"
Aunt Linda: "Benjamin!"
Ben: "I mean honestly. Grandad is going to fall over any day now. She's clearly a gold-digger."
Daniel: "But she ain't messin with no broke, broke!"
Logan: "Shut-up, Kanye."
Grandad: "Everyone! It's time for me to- gather around. I want to give a speech."
Uncle David: "Here we go again..."
Daniel: "Should I go get the other cousins?"
Aunt Mimi: "I don't know if I want my kids to hear this, remember his last speech?"
Grandad: "Everyone, I want you to first know that I love you. I love you all. Secondly, every year we come here and I give a speech. I may be a few beers deep this year, but I love you. I love all thirteen of you grandchildren."
Uncle David: "I think you mean fourteen..."
Grandad: "I love all of my kids. But, we all know that sadly, one cannot be here with us tonight. I would like to take this time to have a moment of silence for my beautiful daughter. She passed away as we all know. So, everyone, let's take this time to have a moment of silence for Mimi. Oh, poor Mimi. We all miss her dearly."

In defense of
In defense of everyone that is officially saying "What the hell?" to Lady Gaga
Honestly... I feel like there are no words needed, but I'll continue. I just can not see how anybody would think highly of her anymore. I think that she wants attention and is trying extremely too hard to be eccentric and different. It would be one thing if she did this egg stunt at one of her own shows, but at the Grammy's? I think that Gaga is now spelled G-I-M-M-I-E-A-T-T-E-N-T-I-O-N.

Oh! The Places You'll Go
It's so funny to ponder about where life will take you. I think about this often. I have been to many places already and I'm only 18 years old. There are SO many places to see; things to experience, but unless you are Oprah, chances are that you aren't going to see everything you want to see in this lifetime.
A day without technology
On Friday, I tried to go a day without using the microwave. I am always lazy and never cook, and always use it. Needless to say, it was hard! I had to go home on Friday for a family emergency and conditioning myself not to use a microwave, even for a day, was difficult. I ended up eating cold foods all day and waiting forever to cook potato skins in the oven! Honestly though, cooking foods in the oven makes them tastier, so I guess I have to be thankful for this assignment.

THE Event
One of the greatest moments in history: the day I was born. It was a warm Saturday morning, the day before mother's day- May 9th, 1992. Bringing me onto this earth is probably the best thing that could have happened to this planet. To further back up my point, I asked my mom what she thought of it. She agreed. Maybe it really was? I mean I have proof. Many others would agree with me.
EXCEPT my roommate, Kirsten. When looking back at that day she says she can't even remember it, but thinks that based on what she sees of me now, "it would have been better if I wasn't born at all." What a joke.
Conclusion: History is more or less based on opinion.

Kids these days
Something that I saw on 9gag.com really got my thoughts-a-brewin...
Kids these days are missing out on a lot of epic things that 90's children had growing up. I thought of a small list of great things about growing up in the 90's:
1. The privilege of watching t.v. shows like Hey Arnold! and Boy Meets World.
2. Being introduced to gameboy color, rather than be spoiled from the start with Wii.
3. Being apart of the original Pokemon! franchise
4. Being able to celebrate New Years during the New Millenium!
5. Most importantly, growing up with the Harry Potter phenomenon.

Apologies
So, first off, I would like to apologize for my blonde blogging so far. I really am new to this so please give me the benefit of the doubt.
...Anyways, my roommate introduced me to the site called Insanity Wolf, (noob) I decided to dedicate my blog today to my favorite five insanity wolf pictures.

Label
After consideration of these stereotypes, I pick up a tissue and wipe the tear streaming down my cheek because right away I recognize which category I fall under. That’s right, I am “the conflicted.” Ken Steele describes the conflicted as being “like a careerist (attend college as means to an end: getting a job) but are not sure where they are going…pushed into college by society or their parents.” Most people receive choices in life… but college has never been an optional topic for me. Not that this is discerning to me in any way, but college was always fate in life, due to my parents. My mom got a degree from the Ohio State University, whereas my dad got one from University of North Carolina Wilmington. Both went on to be successful in their areas of expertise.
The background now given, I now will explain the sadness of the condition of being “the conflicted.” Being one of “the conflicted” reveals the current confused state of mind I am currently in. I have absolutely no idea what I want to do. Okay, sure, I want to get a job and be successful, enjoy my life, be financially stable, and all of that good stuff that any sane person wants at my age. Although I am sure one day I will figure out what I want to do and what I really want to major in, right now I feel like a lost cause.
My idea of a perfect career choice changes almost daily. Literally: in the past three months I have debated upon whether I want to one day receive an Oscar for screen-play writing, go to law school and be the next John Cochran, or even try to be the next psychiatrist talk show host like Oprah Winfrey. As soon as I think I know what I want, something else pops up and makes me think that I would not be exceedingly happy with my current choice. Being among “the conflicted” has it’s perks- I am always open to new ideas, but then again it is also depressing when I think about how much time I have spent taking countless career tests.
I can only hope that Rob Thomas follows through with his words that “someday, we’ll figure all this out…” But for now I am a stick in the mud. I am one of “the conflicted.”

Emma Watson and Dr. Suess
<--I've always had long hair and I don't think I could ever grow the courage to cut it all off. Props to Emma Watson! I love her quote "The ending of Harry Potter was like a break-up. It was very sad. And most girls cut their hair after a break-up." This is why I (along with a billion others) love her.
Add this to my bucket list! I want to make Green Eggs and Ham.
